About

Professor Alain Goriely examines how recent advances in artificial intelligence are changing mathematical research and what that may mean for discovery and education.

The lecture considers AI systems that can now address mathematical research problems once thought to require years of human work. It explains the mathematics behind these advances and asks how they may change mathematical understanding, teaching and future discovery.
