SteamLights
About
An evening steam train ride through illuminated lineside light displays with a narrated 'Somewhere over the Rainbow' story at the Bluebell Railway.
SteamLights returns for 2026 with a new immersive theme, 'Somewhere over the Rainbow'. Visitors arrive at Sheffield Park Station, decorated with rainbow festive lights, where Malinda the Good Witch hosts a meet-and-greet and a switch-on ceremony before passengers board a steam train. The journey passes colourful lineside displays themed on the four seasons, culminating in a rainbow and a pot of gold, with a narrated story and music playing in each carriage. The train stops at Horsted Keynes, where passengers can watch the engine uncouple and reattach, before returning to Sheffield Park.
