Val McDermid and Geographer Royal for Scotland Jo Sharp appear at The Portobello Bookshop to celebrate This Door of the Seas, their novella in Polygon's Darkland Tales series. The book retells the story of the Darien Venture, Scotland's failed seventeenth-century trading colony, written as letters home from expedition scientist Dr James Wallace. The authors will be interviewed by fellow writer Doug Johnstone, with in-person and livestream attendance options available.
