Nightmares on Film
About
An exhibition exploring British horror cinema, from Hammer's Gothic fantasies to folk horror, through posters, costumes and behind-the-scenes artefacts.
Nightmares on Film, curated in partnership with Marcus Hearn, examines how British horror films reflected changes in society and culture and in turn shaped social history. It traces the story of Hammer Films and other influential production companies, from Gothic fantasies to folk horror classics, and how audiences and censors confronted their darkest fears. Displays include rare posters, previously unseen production designs, unique costumes and behind-the-scenes artefacts. A separate film screenings and talks programme runs alongside the exhibition.
