About

A nine-session introduction to opera, with each class using a single work to explore its composer, context and production.

Tutor Dr Bruno Bower leads a nine-week course exploring opera from the eighteenth century to the present. Each class uses one opera to examine its composer, historical and social context, themes, music, staging, characterisation, plot and performance traditions. The course is open to everyone and welcomes people new to opera as well as experienced listeners.
