Abingdon Operatic Society Presents Come From Away
About
Abingdon Operatic Society stages the musical Come From Away, telling the true story of stranded air passengers welcomed by the town of Gander after 9/11.
The amateur company Abingdon Operatic Society performs the musical Come From Away at the Amey Theatre, timed to mark the 25th anniversary year of the September 11th attacks. The show follows 7,000 air passengers stranded when US airspace closed and the community of Gander, Newfoundland, which doubled in size overnight as locals provided shelter and comfort. This production expands the original cast of 12 to 22 principal performers plus a ten-member 'plane people' chorus, and is directed by Tom Mackriell. Subsidised £16 tickets are offered to under-25s to encourage younger audiences to engage with the story.
