Christmas at Stow
About
A Christmas day at the historic aerodrome with craft stalls, a working blacksmith, live music and choir performances, handbell carols, children’s crafts and living-history displays.
The event fills the original 1916 Airmen’s Mess and grounds with more than a dozen craft and gift stalls, blacksmith demonstrations, food and drink, and a visit from Father Christmas. Sabre Saxes provide music through the day; Chelmsford Male Voice Choir, Braintree Voices and All Saints Church Handbell Ringers perform, with the handbell group playing carols and festive songs on bells dating from 1870. The 10th Essex Living History Group appears in Great War uniforms. The event ticket does not include aircraft hangars, exhibitions or galleries; visitors may upgrade to full museum admission on arrival.
