Dr Merve Sancak presents research on industrial policy in Turkey’s garment industry, followed by discussion with SOAS colleagues.
The seminar uses Turkey’s garment industry to examine how domestic institutions and macroeconomic conditions shape industrial upgrading. It considers how unstable competition, rising labour and energy costs, and broad economic policy can constrain sectoral initiatives. The event is part of the SOAS Global Development Seminar Series. Merve Sancak speaks with discussants Ezgi B. Unsal and M. Kerem Coban, chaired by Lorena Lombardozzi, in Main Building room R101; an online option is also offered.
