Hold Fast / Heart Wood

A free exhibition by Lisa Matthews and Melanie Ashby exploring anchoring, resilience, grief and uncertainty through words, images, paint and printmaking.

Lisa Matthews, a poet working across visual and sculptural practice, and Melanie Ashby, a painter and printmaker, present a joint exhibition drawing on the holdfast that anchors kelp and the heartwood at a tree's core. The works explore what anchors and sustains us, and how we navigate grief and uncertainty. The exhibition opens with a poetry reading at the launch party and is otherwise open on Sunday afternoons and during other events at the centre.
