The Pavilion Shanty Choir
About
A fortnightly singing group at Gorleston Pavilion exploring sea shanties and maritime music, led by Paul and Stephen of The Rogue Shanty Buoys.
The Pavilion Shanty Choir is a new singing group meeting fortnightly on Tuesdays at the Pavilion Theatre in Gorleston, dedicated to sea shanties and maritime music from East Anglia's seafaring heritage. Sessions run from 1:30pm to 3pm and cover traditional shanties, whaling songs, naval ballads, work songs, foc'sle tunes and romantic ballads, with themes of shipwrecks, smuggling and seafaring life. The group is led by Paul and Stephen of The Rogue Shanty Buoys and forms part of a cultural and arts/heritage research project by their not-for-profit arts organisation, The Voice cLoud.
