This Side of the Looking Glass: Archives from the Real Life of Lewis Carroll
About
A free exhibition at Surrey History Centre exploring the life of Lewis Carroll through archives, photographs and letters held by the Centre, plus artefacts on loan from the Dodgson family, the Manners Collection and West Horsley Place Trust.
This 2026 return adds artefacts from collector Edward Wakeling to the 2025 edition made for the 160th anniversary of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Surrey History Centre archives about Dodgson’s childhood, family, letters and photographs are shown with loans from the Dodgson family, the Manners Collection and West Horsley Place Trust, together with material connected to his long association with Guildford. Isabel Sullivan is the curator. The display is in the Centre’s foyer and display cabinets; admission is free during opening hours, with normal searchroom admission rules.
