A Ripple Through Time: Ceramics then and now
About
An interdisciplinary talk exploring ceramics, making and memory, linking art, archaeology and Polish pottery heritage at the Weston Library.
This IF Oxford event brings together artist and designer Alicja Patanowska, archaeologist Professor Lambros Malafouris and moderator Dr Joanna Bagniewska, alongside a representative of Bolesławiec ceramics, for a conversation about what happens when our hands meet clay. Taking Patanowska's The Ripple Effect as a starting point, the discussion explores making, materials, memory and the relationship between people and objects. It forms part of the Hevelius Project 2026: Stars, Water & Earth, connecting Oxford with its Polish twin city Wrocław. The event runs for two hours and is open to all ages, with under-16s to be accompanied by an adult.
