Bleak Expectations
About
Harrogate Dramatic Society stages Bleak Expectations, a comic Victorian melodrama parody following Pip Bin's battles against the villainous Mr Gently Benevolent.
The Harrogate Dramatic Society presents Bleak Expectations, an amateur comedy presented by arrangement with Nick Hern Books. The play parodies Victorian melodrama and Dickensian novels, following the unfortunate Pip Bin as he rises from poverty only to be thwarted at every turn by the villainous Mr Gently Benevolent. Expect mistaken identities, fiendish schemes, romance, revenge and increasingly ridiculous misadventures in a fast-paced, wordplay-filled celebration of theatrical storytelling. Recommended for ages 14+, with under-16s accompanied by an adult.
