About

A short on-gallery talk by curator Dr Helen Walsh exploring Bahamian-born artist Anina Major and her woven ceramic work Kindred, newly acquired by York Art Gallery.

To mark Black History Month, curator of ceramics Dr Helen Walsh leads a 30-minute on-gallery talk about Bahamian-born artist Anina Major, who now lives and works in New York State. Major developed an innovative approach to woven ceramics after a chance discovery sparked memories of family and home. The talk focuses on Kindred, the first work by Major to be acquired by a public gallery outside the US and a recent addition to York Art Gallery's collection.
