Fisherrow Fridays: Beach Cleans
About
A friendly group beach clean at Fisherrow Sands, Musselburgh, run with the Scottish Seabird Centre, Scottish Coastal Cleanup and Fisherrow Harbour & Seafront Association.
Volunteers meet at Fisherrow Harbour Office to help clear marine litter from the sandy beach between Fisherrow Harbour and the mouth of the River Esk. The clean lasts around 1 to 1.5 hours, with kit including gloves, pickers and bin bags provided after a health and safety briefing. If enough people attend, the group may carry out a Marine Conservation Society litter survey, with the data used to support policy change and research on marine pollution. Friendly, quiet dogs on short leads are welcome, though the site is not accessible to wheelchair users or pushchairs.
