Horizontal Practices: Jackie? … Jackie?
About
A free two-day workshop exploring the life and legacy of genderqueer playwright and poet Jackie Curtis through a multimedia reading room, poetry, film clips and open dialogue.
Biogal and Jaye Hudson of TGirlsonFilm lead a two-day communal workshop on the work and cultural impact of Jackie Curtis (1947-1985), the genderqueer playwright, drag queen and poet. Participants explore a multimedia reading room of annotated archival scripts, rare performance footage and live-art 'bootlegging'. Day one covers Jackie's life and legacy via autobiographical poetry, interviews and screenings; day two pairs 1970s stage clips with a reading of Curtis's play Glamour, Glory, Gold: the Life and Legend of Nola Noonan (1967). Aimed at community builders, artists and activists, with no prior experience needed; sessions run 1-4pm in step-free Studio 5.
