Halloween: Morris & Masks in Sudbury
About
A family-friendly Halloween afternoon at St Peter's Church with a Green Folk mask-making workshop and Morris dancing from three sides.
This family-friendly Halloween event marks All Hallows Eve and the Gaelic Samhain tradition, in which Morris sides dance out the harvest season. From 3pm there is an all-ages mask-making workshop where visitors can create their own Green Folk mask, with materials supplied and prizes for the best masks. At 4pm, Boudicca Morris, Hells Belles Morris and Belchamp Morris dance into the building, and visitors can try Morris dancing themselves. The church also displays Green Man carvings in wood, stone and terracotta, some over 500 years old, and costumes are encouraged.
