Shallow Gallery: A Thousand Small Brown Birds
About
A site-specific public art installation by Bill Pollard and Amy Lay-Pettifer inspired by murmurations, open 24/7 at centre:mk.
This site-specific installation is a collaboration between artist Bill Pollard and writer Amy Lay-Pettifer, drawing on their shared interest in how patterns found in nature clash, echo and resonate against personal memory and day-to-day life. It responds to the murmurations of starlings gathering outside the shopping centre as the season shifts, with a daily refrain settling under the traffic on Silbury Boulevard. Presented by Arts Central Studios and curated by Rookie Services, the work forms part of Shallow Gallery, a public art platform celebrating contemporary artists and Milton Keynes' creative community. The exhibition is open to the public 24/7.
