Frome Concerts Group presents: Chelys Consort with Fair Oriana

Early music concert pairing the Chelys Consort of Viols with soprano duo Fair Oriana in an animal-themed programme at Rook Lane Chapel.

Frome Concerts Group presents a collaboration between Chelys Consort of Viols and soprano duo Fair Oriana in A Musical Menagerie, a programme of Renaissance, Jacobean and Stuart songs and instrumental pieces themed around animals. The programme includes madrigals about shepherdesses and sheep, sacred works featuring a serpent and dragon, and Dowland songs in his 400th anniversary year, arranged in sections from Insect Hotel to Birds of Prey. Chelys perform on gut-strung viols, while Fair Oriana blend historical music with staging and cross-genre influences.
