Sylvia Plath: Poetry and art from a brilliant mind
About
A Bishop's Castle Arts Festival session with Jan Westwood exploring Sylvia Plath's poetry alongside her lesser-known paintings, drawings and collages.
Part of the Bishop's Castle Arts Festival, this two-hour session led by Jan Westwood reads Sylvia Plath's poetry in the context of her visual art. Plath originally trained as a visual artist before switching to English literature, and continued producing expressive paintings, drawings and collages throughout her life. The session explores how her poems and artworks express connected aspects of the same imagination, engaging with poems that range from dramatic and harrowing to reflective and playful. Ticket price includes tea or coffee and cake.
