About

A free day of 18th-century country dance workshops, a talk and a concert at the Weston Library celebrating the launch of The Scaramouch.

The Bodleian Libraries host a free day celebrating the launch of The Scaramouch, a new book and recording of country dances drawn from the libraries' archives. Georgia Delve, Matthew Coatsworth and the Warleggan Village Band lead three dance workshops in Blackwell Hall, a talk and performance in the Sir Victor Blank Lecture Theatre exploring Thompson's Compleat Collection of 200 Favourite Country Dances (1757), and a concert of music from the book. All are welcome with no experience needed; booking is required for the workshops and talk, and the dance workshops are fully booked with tickets remaining for the talk and performance.
