Irish Stories South of the River
About
A guided walking tour exploring Irish history, figures and culture in South London, from St George's Cathedral to Kennington Park.
Qualified Lambeth Tour Guide Christina Fitzgerald leads a friendly two-hour walking tour through South London streets, uncovering the stories of Irish migrants and their contribution to London life. The route takes in tales of Music Hall star Bessie, post office workers involved in the fight for Irish Independence, a Corkman who led the Chartist movement, and second-generation Irish pop stars of the 1980s, including a visit to the street where one of their videos was filmed. The tour starts outside St George's Cathedral on Lambeth Road and ends in historic Kennington Park.
