About
Author Louis de Bernières discusses his book Smelling of Rooks, a candid and comic portrait of a writer's life in rural Norfolk, at St Peter's Church in Ely.
Louis de Bernières, author of Captain Corelli's Mandolin, appears at St Peter's Church in Ely to talk about Smelling of Rooks, a collection of a decade's worth of reflections and anecdotes on country living, family, music, cats, motorcycles, politics and social media. Set against the 'Norfolk Alps', the book is described as an accidental memoir capturing the texture of ordinary days with warmth and mischief. Doors open at 6.40pm for a 7pm start.
