About
A talk about Simon Goodrich’s 1799 Midlands tour and the Derbyshire factories and people he encountered.
Goodrich’s surviving journal records his 1799 visit to Derby and Belper, where he met local industrial figures and saw their works. John Kanefsky puts the journal in context and traces the transition from hand- and wood-based production to mechanisation and iron machinery.
