Cinema Film Screening - Stoffwechsel. Das drachenprächtige Ungeheuer

A screening of Hyun-Sook Song and Jochen Hiltmann’s 1997 autobiographical film about silkworm farming, memory, migration and cultural identity.

This 76-minute colour film, shot on 16 mm and co-directed by Hyun-Sook Song and Jochen Hiltmann, blends personal memory, Korean mythology and documentary observation. Song connects the silkworm life cycle and her family’s silkworm farming with movement between Korea and Germany. The Goethe-Institut screening is presented in collaboration with Sprüth Magers and takes place the evening before the opening of Song’s London exhibition at the gallery.
