Machines in Motion
About
A Christmas lecture at The Glasshouse tracing how machines move and control their own motion, with live demonstrations and a humanoid robot.
Transmission Dynamics presents a live Christmas lecture tracing the journey from mechanisms that transmit movement to machines that understand and control their own motion. Through demonstrations, music and real engineering investigations, it explores vibration, measurement and precision control, ending with Zomet, a humanoid robot combining mechanisms, sensors, control systems and artificial intelligence. Created for young people aged 11–17 and their families, no specialist knowledge is needed. The lecture is delivered with support from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
