The Human OS: Social Engineering in the Age of AI
About
A free BCS talk by Oindrilla Choudhury on how AI-enabled scams exploit human psychology, with practical ways to verify requests and build safer habits.
Oindrilla Choudhury, Head of Human Risk at Syngenta Group, examines how AI tools such as cloned voices and deepfake videos are reshaping social engineering, while the underlying vulnerabilities — trust in authority, urgency, and the desire to help — remain familiar. Drawing on real cases from business email compromise to WhatsApp account takeovers, she dissects the anatomy of a scam and explains why digitally confident people still fall for them. The talk also covers her human risk intelligence work at Syngenta, offering practical steps for verifying suspicious requests and protecting accounts at home and at work. The evening includes refreshments, networking and a Q&A, and is open to adults aged 16 and over.
