Evelyn Taocheng Wang: Being Poetic Ruins Life
About
Evelyn Taocheng Wang’s Being Poetic Ruins Life brings together painting, textiles, installation and video exploring identity, cultural exchange and art history.
The exhibition combines earlier work with commissions made for Goldsmiths CCA, bringing Chinese and Western art traditions into conversation with British literature and popular culture. Wang uses humour, imitation and deliberate mistranslation to explore gender, language and cultural belonging. The continuous exhibition runs from 25 September to 13 December 2026; this corrects an opening-reception description rather than changing the run. Reduced-capacity relaxed viewings take place on 7 October, 4 November and 2 December, 11:00–12:00 London time. Booking is requested to manage numbers; large groups are not admitted, audio is lowered and a carpeted breakout space is available. These are early access sessions for the same exhibition, not separate productions. General opening-hour storage remains unchanged.
