My English Persian Kitchen
About
A one-woman play with live cooking on stage, telling a true story of exile and rebuilding a life around Persian food.
This one-woman play tells the true story of a woman forced to leave her home with no hope of returning, who rebuilds her life in a new country. With live cooking on stage, she recreates the dishes of her childhood and her mother's Persian kitchen, building a new community around food. Written by award-winning Hannah Khalil from a story by Atoosa Sepehr, the life-affirming show was first performed at the Traverse Theatre as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, produced by Soho Theatre and Traverse Theatre.
