Isolde Films presents: Nocturne

A screening of Tony Palmer's film Nocturne, a portrait of Benjamin Britten centred on his song cycle, introduced by the director.

Isolde Films presents a screening of Nocturne, the final film in Tony Palmer's trilogy about Benjamin Britten, introduced by Palmer himself. The film uses Britten's song cycle Nocturne, with a specially filmed performance by the English Chamber Orchestra, as a frame to explore the composer's uneasy relationship with the wider world and the role of the artist in society. It also features interviews with several of Britten's close friends, offering a personal portrait of the composer.
