About

More than 60 paintings by Robert Ryman, made from the mid-1950s to the early 2010s, trace the American artist’s exploration of white paint, surface and support. The exhibition invites close attention to texture, brushwork and the way the paintings respond to light.

Bringing together over 60 works from across Ryman’s career, this retrospective looks at how variations in surface, material and display shape the experience of his paintings. Visitors are invited to spend time with the works and notice how they relate to their surroundings.
