Metamorphoses

Ealing Choral Society sets Handel’s Acis and Galatea alongside Bob Chilcott’s Five Days That Changed the World, then connects its historical turning points with spirituals and choral works by Whitacre, Arcadelt, Schubert and Haydn.

The concert opens with highlights from Handel’s Acis and Galatea, inspired by Ovid’s Metamorphoses, then turns to Bob Chilcott’s Five Days That Changed the World. The remaining programme pairs that work’s historical episodes with Deep River, Eric Whitacre’s Sleep, Arcadelt’s Il Bianco e Dolce Cigno, Schubert’s The Lord is my Shepherd and Haydn’s The Heavens Are Telling. Peter Asprey conducts Ealing Choral Society.
