South Gardens Spring Opening

Burghley's private South Gardens, created by Capability Brown, open for a few weeks each spring to raise funds for the Evergreen Care Trust.

Each spring Burghley opens its private South Gardens, normally closed to visitors, for a short season raising funds for the Evergreen Care Trust, a local charity supporting older people in Stamford. Visitors can see spring floral displays across the 28-acre garden, stroll among trees and topiary, view the Summer House overlooking the lake, and enjoy views of the south front of Burghley House, Lion Bridge and the parkland. The gardens are open daily from 10am to 5pm during the season.
