Fractured Landscapes and how we heal
About
A photography exhibition pairing new work by Jaskirt Dhaliwal-Boora with pieces made by women from four refuges, exploring how nature and creativity can help heal from trauma.
This exhibition at Open Eye Gallery's upstairs Gallery 3 centres on the role of nature and creativity in healing from trauma, particularly in the context of male violence and abuse against women and girls. New photographic work by Jaskirt Dhaliwal-Boora is shown alongside works created by women from four refuges across the country, each group working with a lead artist: Katy Sadler with Birmingham & Solihull Women's Aid, Audrey Albert with Chrysalis Centre in St Helens, Lynn Weddle with Safe in Sussex, and Lynda Laird with Oasis in Gravesend and Dungeness. A companion book, featuring reflective writing from the lead artists, participant artwork and poetry, and an introduction from Deborah Robinson, is available in the gallery's bookshop.
