The Studio: Anna Freeman Bentley in Dialogue with 20th Century Masters

An exhibition pairing Anna Freeman Bentley's new studio paintings with 20th-century works by Picasso, Matisse, Braque, de Chirico and Dufy.

Nahmad Projects presents The Studio, showing new paintings by Anna Freeman Bentley alongside twentieth-century interiors and still lifes, centred on Picasso's 1956 L'atelier. The exhibition traces the artist's studio as a subject across a century, from Picasso's home-studio at La Californie to Bentley's East London workspace today. Bentley's paintings of her own studio and those of fellow women painters respond directly to works by Matisse, de Chirico, Braque and Dufy, exploring how rooms hold memory, aspiration and longing.
