Anita Brookner: Art & Life A Biographical Conversation between Professor Dame Hermione Lee and Dr Kate Kennedy
About
Hermione Lee discusses her new biography of Anita Brookner with Kate Kennedy at a free book launch celebrating OCLW's fifteenth anniversary.
Marking the fifteenth anniversary of the Oxford Centre for Life-Writing, this conversation celebrates the launch of founding director Hermione Lee's new biography Anita Brookner: Art & Life (Chatto & Windus). In discussion with Dr Kate Kennedy, Lee will explore Brookner's life and work — from her South London childhood to her career as an art historian and Booker Prize-winning novelist — and the challenges of writing about a famously private subject who left few personal papers. The talk also considers the craft of biography more broadly, and is open to anyone interested in life-writing, with no specialist knowledge required.
