About

A dinner-and-conversation evening with crime writer Kate Foster exploring Scotland's forgotten women through her novel The Mourning Necklace.

An evening built around Kate Foster's novel The Mourning Necklace and the story of Maggie Dickson, the 1724 fishwife who survived her own hanging. Guests begin with a gin cocktail in the bar, then a dinner menu drawn from 18th-century Scottish life — smoked fish, game broth, dark bread and winter greens. Kate Foster moves between tables in conversation with guests, and the night closes with a short, intimate Q&A about the book and the women history forgot.
