About
A talk by Andrew Wallis on the Roman bathhouse excavation at Carlisle Cricket Club, one of the most significant Roman sites in the UK.
Andrew Wallis explains the dig that uncovered one of the most significant Roman sites in the UK, beneath Carlisle Cricket Club. Excavations have revealed a massive 3rd-century Roman bathhouse, believed to be the largest building on Hadrian's Wall, along with over 1,000 priceless artefacts. The talk will consider the city's military, civilian and strategic importance, its relationship with Hadrian's Wall and the surrounding region.
