Mother Joan of the Angels (PG)
About
A Halloween screening of Polish classic Mother Joan of the Angels, presented by Peacock Cinema with the Samizdat Eastern European Film Festival at Carnegie Hall.
Peacock Cinema collaborates with the Samizdat Eastern European Film Festival for their first Dunfermline screening: a Halloween special of Jerzy Kawalerowicz's Mother Joan of the Angels. The stark black-and-white 1961 film follows a priest sent to a remote 17th-century convent to investigate reports of demonic possession among the nuns, becoming entangled with the possessed prioress Mother Joan in a spiritual and moral struggle. The screening is preceded by a short in-person welcome and a pre-recorded introduction.
