Beginners Oil Painting Course

A two-day introduction to oil painting with Rachel Mercer, using three studies to explore tone, palette organisation, colour mixing and brushwork.

The first Saturday introduces monochrome painting and a limited palette, followed on the second Saturday by an extended palette and work from a life model. Demonstrations and guidance draw on modern still-life painters; these historical artists are influences rather than current tutors. The fee includes materials, a beginners’ painting pack, refreshments and a light lunch each day. Advise the organiser of dietary requirements.
