Lys Hansen: A Retrospective

A major retrospective exhibition celebrating the 90th birthday year of Scottish figurative expressionist artist Lys Hansen.

Marking Lys Hansen's 90th birthday year, this retrospective brings together more than 35 paintings and sculptures spanning six decades of her practice. The show includes large-scale works exploring memory, identity, conflict and human relationships, alongside a new piece, The Brave and the Fallen (2026), and the 1987 work How Wisdom and Folly Meet, Mix and Unite from the Culture Perth & Kinross collections. Developed with curatorial advice from Dr Marianne Greated and supported by Falkirk Leisure and Culture, the exhibition traces a career that has taken Hansen across Europe while confronting difficult histories.
