About
An exhibition on the dawn of American Independence through a British lens, exploring female revolutionaries, enslaved soldiers and radical arsonist James Aitken.
Tracing the dawn of American independence from a British perspective, the exhibition uses satire, newspapers and letters to explore female revolutionaries, enslaved soldiers who fought for liberty and the radical arsonist who bombed Portsmouth Harbour. Presented by Aurora Metro Arts & Media with support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, the touring exhibition is accompanied by talks by academics and readings from Howard Ginsberg’s historical play Jefferson & Adams.
