This Is Still Not a Pipe: The Afterlife of Magritte
About
A free Gagosian Gallery exhibition pairing René Magritte's paintings, works on paper and sculpture with works by over forty contemporary artists influenced by him.
This exhibition examines René Magritte's legacy through significant paintings, works on paper and sculpture spanning all periods of his career, including loans from museums and private collections. His best-known subjects — apples, pipes, bowler hats and cotton-cloud skies — are juxtaposed with works by more than forty artists of different generations, many created specifically for the show. The display is installed in a striking arrangement inspired by the iconic and paradoxical aspects of Magritte's practice. It runs from 24 September to 12 December 2026, open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 6pm.
