About
A lunchtime talk at Kendal Museum by historian Angus Winchester on the history of common land in Britain from the Middle Ages to today.
Kendal Museum's lunchtime talk series hosts Angus Winchester, Emeritus Professor of History at Lancaster University, exploring the history of common land in Britain. The talk traces how these shared landscapes shaped rural life, from traditional farming and local customs to recreation, wildlife conservation and military use, and considers how attitudes to common land have changed since the Middle Ages. The one-hour talk runs from 1pm to 2pm with doors at 12:45pm; the venue is accessible only via stairs.
