The Mystery of Little Venice
About
The Rhyl Liberty Players stage an original play about the myth of Venetian canals supposedly built beneath Rhyl's Queen's Palace in the early 1900s.
The Rhyl Liberty Players present an original play examining the legend that ornate Venetian canals were built and run by Italian artisans beneath Rhyl's Queen's Palace entertainment complex in the early 20th century. Mixing researched history, speculative fiction and fantasy, the story follows real and imagined characters up to the attraction's opening and the building's destruction by fire in 1907. The production blends subterfuge, humour, tragedy and romance, asking whether the canals ever really existed and why local opinion remains divided.
