A Monkey in Winter (1963)

A teetotal innkeeper’s resolve is tested when a sociable stranger arrives in his Normandy village.

During the Second World War, an innkeeper promises his family that he will stop drinking. Years later, when a lively travelling advertiser arrives, the visitor’s drinking and charm unsettle the household and the innkeeper’s carefully maintained pledge.
