Commencement I Commandment
About
Five artists explore archives through material histories, surveillance, digital memory and fragmented records.
Curated by Anzhela Popova and Nathan Yeomans, the group exhibition brings together works by Anastasia Belinskaya, Gülce Tulçalı, Kika Sroka-Miller, Syntheticduo and Harry Payne. The artists approach the archive as a changing record: geological materials carry histories of extraction and climate; surveillance technologies capture bodies and behaviour; data centres ground the idea of “the cloud” in physical resources; and paintings resist a single reading. The exhibition asks who and what gets preserved, who can access records, and how fragments become history.
