Dance of Death

A new Scottish adaptation of Strindberg's Dance of Death, presented by Perth Theatre and Teater Dictat, plays one evening at Theatre Royal Dumfries.

Perth Theatre and Teater Dictat present a new adaptation by Matthew Short of August Strindberg's Dance of Death. As high tide hits and their silver wedding anniversary looms, the bitter couple Edgar and Alex sit in an old, leaky house on an island in the North Sea, drowning in boredom as rising sea levels and a distant cèilidh disturb their peace. The arrival of Alex's cousin Kirsty, a climate officer, sparks a psychological game of cat and mouse, reimagining the classic play's dark humour against global catastrophe. The performance runs 7:30pm–9:30pm, doors open at 6:30pm, and it is recommended for ages 16+.
