About
Whitby Amateur Dramatic Society perform Neil Anthony Docking's play about bereaved mothers after the Aberfan Disaster, over three shows in November 2026.
Whitby Amateur Dramatic Society present Neil Anthony Docking's play The Revlon Girl, directed by Jo Downie. Set eight months after the 1966 Aberfan Disaster, in which 144 people including 116 children died, it follows a group of bereaved mothers who meet weekly above a local hotel to talk, cry and laugh without guilt. Feeling they have let themselves go, they secretly arrange for a Revlon representative to give them a talk on beauty tips, fearing others will think them frivolous. The production marks 60 years since the disaster.
