The hour-long talk examines why some transformative discoveries and works of art — from continental drift and dark matter to Bach, Vermeer and Melville — went unrecognised in their own time, while others flourished instantly. Byrne reflects on creativity, innovation and recognition, with his fees for the event donated to the Rocksteady Foundation. The event runs for one hour with no interval, and a discounted hardback copy of the book can be purchased with tickets.
